Hello, friends. I still really have no words for all that is going on, but I felt compelled to check in this week. You may have noticed that the blog has been quite quiet lately, since I shared my update on 3 months into part-time work. Truth was, I was busy living life, and just not finding the time to write like I used to. I was too wrapped up in spending time with family and friends (and summer is always tough because I just want to be outside as much as I can). The present truth is that I haven’t been motivated to write since the election news. I think it’s no secret that I’m a millennial, and I was just reading an article on LinkedIn by Sallie Krawcheck, CEO of Ellevest. She started by stating that there have been reports of millennials, especially women, hitting a “midlife crisis” in the workforce. I was intrigued… It was one of the greatest joys of my financial independence journey thus far to spend this past weekend with nearly 40 other like-minded money friends at the Slow FI retreat hosted by @thefioneers in NH. Even though I was a speaker/panelist at the event, I learned so much about my own journey from this experience and from my connections and conversations with each and every person I met. More reflections to come soon in a blog post, but just had to share my gratitude for all the wonderful humans I met who shared their stories with me, got vulnerable, and trusted me to listen without judgment. You are all truly inspiring, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for you all! On this day, 4 years ago, Mr. Dink and I tied the knot! It’s been almost a year since we went from long-term renting to listing our mother-in-law suite on Airbnb. You can read all about that decision in the original blog post, in the link tree on my bio page. Today on the blog, I’m dishing out all the details about how it’s been going since shifting to an 80% work schedule 3 months ago. One thing I used to hear a lot about when I first joined the financial independence community is how having “F-You money” can help you get out of a bad situation. New blog post! In honor of my niece’s first trip around the sun, I’m reflecting on how her presence has affected the “NK” - no kids - portion of my DINK status. Hey everyone! As many of you know, back in May, I made a long-time goal of going down to part-time work happen. I officially transitioned to working an 80% schedule at my job.
